Features

A thin tatami pad made from Japanese igusa rush grass, designed to be placed on top of a Futon Mattress (Shikifuton) or other sleeping surface.

The surface uses undyed igusa grown in Kyushu, Japan. Because the rush grass is used without the traditional mud-dyeing process, the surface has a smooth, dry feel with less powder or dust.

The igusa is woven in two layers to give the pad a balance of softness and durability while keeping it only about 2 mm (0.1 in) thick. It adds the natural feel of tatami without significantly changing the height of your sleeping surface.

Elastic bands at all four corners help keep the pad in place while in use.

Igusa naturally helps absorb and release moisture and is also valued for its deodorizing properties. The surface is easy to care for and does not require regular washing. Wipe when needed and dry well in the shade.

    • Surface: Japanese igusa rush grass
    • Igusa grown in Kyushu, Japan
    • Two-layer woven construction
    • Elastic bands at all four corners

    • Air Purification

Rush grass naturally absorbs certain airborne substances, including formaldehyde, helping improve indoor air quality.

    • Humidity Regulation

Rush grass absorbs excess moisture and perspiration, helping maintain a comfortable environment.

    • Natural Deodorizing Effect

Rush grass helps reduce common household odors, including perspiration and ammonia-related odors.

Made with Rush grass sourced from Kyushu, Japan

Pure Japanese rush grass, grown with clean water and fresh air, has a distinct toughness and resilience compared to its imported counterparts.

Japanese-grown rush grass is known for its superior density, resilience, and durability compared to many imported alternatives.

The fibers are more tightly packed, making the material:

    • More elastic
    • More durable
    • More resistant to cracking
    • Longer lasting

    Hiba Wood Treatment

This product is treated with natural Hiba wood extract sourced from Aomori Prefecture, Japan.

Using proprietary processing technology, Hiba essence is infused into the material. Hiba extract contains hinokitiol, a naturally occurring compound known for its antibacterial and deodorizing properties.

Compared with untreated products, the Hiba treatment helps maintain freshness while adding the pleasant, forest-like aroma characteristic of Hiba wood.

The natural scent of Hiba is often associated with the relaxing atmosphere of a forest retreat, enhancing the comfort of your living space.

    Do not wash with water.

Wipe gently with a dry cloth or a tightly wrung cloth when needed.

If moisture remains, dry it well in a shaded, well-ventilated place.

Avoid long hours of direct sunlight, as it may cause fading or uneven color changes.

Store in a dry place when not in use.

Please note: The color of the edges may appear different, this is not a defect. The color variation is not caused by fading or sun exposure, but is a natural characteristic of rush grass.
