A cotton/ramie blend is woven into a crinkled fabric with a three-dimensional texture.

The weft is made of high-twisted yarn, which is woven in the warp direction.

This fabric is durable, highly absorbent, breathable, lightweight, and cool, combining the distinctive qualities of both cotton and ramie.

Its lightweight, cool feel helps prevent it from sticking to the skin.

How to Use “Envelope Type” Pillow Case

Insert the excess fabric inside and spread it out with both hands. Use the pillow with the one with the excess fabric down.

Manufacturer of the Fabric Shinchi Orimono

Enshu-Tsumugi is one of the weavings that originated in the Edo Era and was passed down to the Enshu region in Shizuoka, one of Japan’s three main production areas of quality cotton. In the 80’s, the shift of fabric production overseas led to its decline. However, many weavers remain devoted to the tradition, working to improve the quality of this precious fabric with deep affection and earning the continued trust of customers.

Enshu-Tsumugi’s specialty is “The warmth of craftsmen”. From spinning to weaving, every process requires manual work by skilled craftsmen. It is widely used for garments such as kimono and bags, bringing beauty to our daily lives.

As the number of Enshu-Tsumugi producers continues to decrease, the fabric for our item is produced by Shinchi Orimono. Their single loom weaves only about 50 meters per day, depending on the design. The speed is intentionally kept at about half the normal rate to prevent overstretching, allowing the fabric to retain its soft, charming texture.

Yarn-dyed yarns of various thicknesses create a three-dimensional weave with rich depth and unique shading. Fine patterns are woven through meticulous calculation, with some designs existing only in the mind of an artisan with many years of experience. Their fabrics frequently appear in collections of foreign brands as well as in the traditional Japanese wear industry.
