Made in Japan

This is a rug made of high-quality rush grass.
The special Kakegawa weave makes the surface very beautiful and smooth to the touch.
Just by placing it on the floor, you can enjoy Japanese modern style.

Igusa is not only smooth to the touch, but also functional, with a spongy core that absorbs moisture when humidity is high and releases moisture when it is dry.

FAQ: I see cut rush grass sticking out in some places. Is this defective?

It s not defective. It is a phenomenon known as "Ikire".

Compared to chemical fibers, etc., natural rush grass is more prone to being cut, given it's natural characteristics. There may be cuts resulting from friction in the machine while weaving the fibers, or from dying.

If there are fibers sticking out as shown in the above picture, you can simply cut them using a pair of scissors or nail clippers and use as is.

About the Producer – HAGIHARA

Quality assured by a 120 year old company
As exports began to flourish in the Meiji era (1868-1912), rush grass products were also exported to Europe and the United States.

In 1892, Koichi Hagiwara I, who had excellent foresight, established the company under the trade name "Marufu" after his own name "Fuichi" as a manufacturer and seller of hana-goza for export to the United States.

Later, in 1902, hana-goza, of which Kurashiki was a specialty, ranked third among all items exported from Japan to the United States.

However, due to World War I, which began in 1914, exports were no longer possible and the company switched to domestic sales.

Hagiwara has a spirit of taking on big challenges to stand out from the crowd, and a spirit of continuing steady efforts to support the challenges.

The only thing that has not changed in Hagiwara Corporation is the concept of "Marufu," which has always supported our evolution up to now and will continue to do so in the future.

  • Although it is processed to prevent color fading, the color may fade due to the natural nature of the material.
  • The color may discolor when wiped with carpet shampoo, detergent, etc. because it is a natural material.
  • Please avoid humid places.
  • Although the carpet has been treated to prevent mold and mildew, mold may occur depending on the conditions of use because it is made of natural materials.
  • Wipe with a dry cloth before use.
  • Please remove the tag pins for label attachment completely before use.
  • Please allow for slight variations in size because it is a natural material.
  • When using it in a slippery place, we recommend the use of an anti-slip sheet.
