What is Izumi Cotton?

Izumi cotton has been woven in the southern part of Osaka Prefecture since the Edo period. Cotton produced in Izumi can spin fine yarns of high quality with long hairy legs, and the cotton fabric woven with these yarns was highly valued for its thinness and durability.

However, inexpensive imported cotton was the mainstay, and by the latter half of the Meiji period (1868-1912), most of the cotton fabrics had disappeared from the market. Today, it is a very rare and valuable local product.

Highly Absorbent Cotton Filling & Additive-Free Pure Cotton Gauze

Highly Absorbent Cotton Filling

Gentle on the skin, absorbs sweat, and dries quickly.

Outstanding water absorbency.

Ordinary cotton is not degreased and only has its surface impurities removed with water. However, degreased cotton undergoes a process of refinement, bleaching, and degreasing, allowing it to absorb moisture exceptionally well. The fibers of degreased cotton are soft and breathable, helping to block the entry of airborne germs.

Additive-Free Pure Cotton Gauze

Truly additive-free and color-free.

A gauze fabric consisting of 118 threads is used instead of the usual 98 threads. This difference of 20 threads makes the gauze soft and strong. The gauze will develop its original soft texture with repeated washing.

Before impurities (such as starch from the weaving process) are removed, the gauze undergoes a burning process. This process reduces the fluffiness of the gauze and suppresses the generation of dust. Even those who are sensitive to dust can use this gauze with peace of mind.
