About This Kotatsu Floor Mat

This kotatsu floor mat is made to place underneath a kotatsu table. It adds cushioning under the table and helps reduce the feeling of coldness from the floor.

The 40 mm (1.6 in) polyester padding gives the mat a soft, comfortable feel, making it suitable for use on wooden floors and other hard surfaces.

When used with a kotatsu, the mat helps keep warmth around the table and reduces heat escaping toward the floor.

The surface has a water-repellent finish, so small spills can be wiped up more easily. Please wipe spills as soon as possible.

Materials

  • Top fabric: 100% polyester flannel
  • Reverse side: 100% polyester with peach-skin processing and non-slip finish
  • Padding: 40 mm (1.6 in) compressed polyester sheet

Thickness & Texture

The mat has a soft flannel surface and a cushioned 40 mm (1.6 in) padding layer. It creates a comfortable floor space around the kotatsu table.

Size

Please choose the mat size according to the size of your kotatsu table and the space where you plan to use it.

Size Mat Size
Small Rectangle 190 × 130 cm (74.8 × 51.2 in)
Square 190 × 190 cm (74.8 × 74.8 in)
Rectangle 240 × 190 cm (94.5 × 74.8 in)

All measurements are approximate.

Warmth and Cushioning

The padded mat creates a soft layer between the floor and the kotatsu space. It helps keep the area around the kotatsu more comfortable, especially on colder floors.

Sound Reduction

This mat has obtained the LL-40 sound insulation grade in Japan. It helps reduce sound transfer to the floor below, making it suitable for apartments and shared living spaces.

Water-Repellent Surface

The surface has a water-repellent finish, so small spills can be wiped off more easily. Please note that the fabric is water-repellent, not waterproof.

The chenille-style surface also helps prevent dust and hair from clinging too strongly, making daily care easier.

About the size of the kotatsu mat

If you are not sure about the size of your kotatsu mattress (kotatsu rug), use "the width of the kotatsu top + 39 inch (100 cm)" as a guide.
For example, if your kotatsu table is 31.5 inch (80 cm) wide, the size of the kotatsu mattress should be 31.5 + 39 = 70.5 inch ( 80 cm + 100 cm = 180 cm) or more.

This will give you 20 inch (50 cm) of space to sit on each side of the tabletop.
